"The most experienced traveler" goes first at Ticket to Ride.   It is up to the group to decide how to settle this.   Are you going to use distance traveled, countries traveled, continents visited, most miles logged on trains?  There are many ways, and it's a great way to start the game with a heated discussion.   We suggest that you alternate the definition each time you play, especially if the same group always gets together.   How about next time, the more experienced traveler be the one that traveled the most miles to attend the game night?
